Tawfiq ji - First thanks for posting this wonderful music. I am glad I discovered your blog.

I had a question though - I have two previous albums (folders rather). In one there are hindustani ragas played - with the artiste name "Munir Khan". In the other I have the artiste named "Munir Sarhadi" and the album/instrument named "Sarinda" (not sure which).

Since the Sarinda and Sarangi are similar instruments I am having the confusion if these artistes (Munir Sarhadi & Munir Khan) are the same person ?

You help will be appreciated.
Thanks
Nirmalya

Thanks for the music Tawfiq ji.

It seems I have resolved the question. The two are different artistes. Munir Sarhadi (1922-1980) was a Pashto Sarinda player from Peshawar, Khyper-Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. Munir Khan plays the related instrument Sarangi, and is from Rajasthan, India.

The Raag Des is one of the most beautiful thing I've ever heard. Why can't i find any info about Ustad Munir Khan? It's he still around? Does he teach? Im shocked by his virtuosity and musicianship. I am craving more of his music.

Just have a look at the "Labels" list here on the right side and by choosing "Munir Khan" you will find also another LP.
He passed away already a while ago. I was friends with his son Zamir Ahmed Khan and his grandson Irshad Hussain Khan, but I saw only once Munir Khan in concert. He was a student for decades of the great singer Ustad Amir Khan by whom we will post in a couple of days a number of recordings. Unfortunately Sarngi players of the caliber of Munir Khan hardly exist today anymore, especially ones which so closely follow the format of vocal music.
But if you choose on the labels list "Sarangi" you will find many recordings by other great Sarangi players of the past.
