Ali Akbar Khan (1922-2009) - Sarod - LP published in 1967 in India


Another beautiful LP by the great master - the 10th we post here on this blog. I received this one - which I used to have in the 1970s as a LP, but later only as a copy on CD - recently as an additional free LP when I ordered some LPs in India. The condition of the LP itself and of the cover is not the very best, unfortunately.

    I had always assumed that Bairagi on this LP was the same recording as on Connoisseur Society CS2020 (1970), and Bairagi being the same recording as on Connoisseur Society CS1967 (1967), so even though I obtained a copy of it years ago, I didn't listen to it. That's unlikely to actually be the case, so I'm looking forward to hearing other versions now.

    For sure, these are different from the ones on Connoisseur Society.

Erlaube mir einen kleinen Tipp: Da viele der Aufnahmen naturgemäß sehr knistern, möchte ich folgendes Programm empfehlen: AFDeClick: http://www.andreas-flucke.homepage.t-online.de/ Damit braucht es zwar (noch) mehr Zeit, aber mit erstaunlich guten Resultaten! Und viel. wäre es auch hilfreich, die wav-Dateien gleich in flac zu wandeln (weniger traffic)?

    This is a great recording, a very direct mic, and a rather good quality LP too. having the WAV files is great (FLAC would be as good). Thank you.
