Thank You (again!) for this beautiful sounding lp transfer of authentic gamelan music! (I prefer the instrumental Balinese stuff over the vocal Javanese tradition--but thanks for sharing these records of both!;) -- dandor
ReplyDeleteOnce again, superb stuff! Thanx........
ReplyDeleteDear Tawfiq!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for your excellent blog and posts.
May I post my humble "plea for help" here? I am looking for the album "Badakhshan – Poetry and Songs from the Ismá’ilis of the Pamir Mountains"...being of partly of Tajik origin, I am very interested in exploring my ancestral culture :) I see the CD is theoreticaly available for buying, but since I live outside of USA, they wont ship to me /or it will be unreasonably expensive...maybe- if you ahd access to this album - you could make an exception and share this treasure with us, I am sure many others would appreciate this as well. Thank you very much in advance and all the best
kind regards
Eldin
Dear Eldin, I don't have this CD and as you might know don't post any CDs anyway. The Recording you are looking for is available for commercial download on several platforms like emusic, Amazon etc.
ReplyDeletePlease go there.
tawfiq
Thank you for your reply! the downloads amazon (and most of the rest) offers dont work for me, as I have no credit cards.
ReplyDeletePlease post something else from Tadjikistan or the Pamir then, when you decide the time is right, your music is even better then the CDs, I'm sure. I look forward :)
Have a good day
Eldin
I don't have anything.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this Tawfiq - a great gift. To return the favour, I made two stereo high-quality field recordings of Balinese music in 2006 and 2011, and would be happy to pass them on to you to repost if you like them. Write to me at david.lombok AT hotmail.com. Although the link is dead, you can see a post of the second one at madrotter's great treasure trove of Indonesian music at http://madrotter-treasure-hunt.blogspot.com/2012/03/master-and-pupil-balinese-gender-duets.html - and thanks to Lucky for doing the cover artwork! Cheers, Dave.
