Thank you so much -- it's one of the few of Khansahib's albums I didn't have yet. If you are interested, I have many others of his I could share with you.

Thanks, but I have myself almost all, except two: the one on Oriental Records and another quite rare one called Halfmoon. Normally I'm not posting the ones which have been republished on CD and are still available. Though this one exists also on CD on Saregama. But as Saregama has been overtaken by Sony it's not yet clear which ones will be avalable in the future.

Tawfiq: I have both the Oriental record (Soul Of The Sarod) and Halfmoon, the latter an LP rip, the former from the CD (though I also have the LP, I have not ripped it). If you want copies, let's figure out a way for me to get them to you.

Well done! I am very happy to see this gem. Thanks for all the time spent in making this blog a treasure house.

Now that I have a blog of my own, I realize what a huge amount of effort can be expended on transfers and even such ordinary things such as keeping track of uploads and etc. It's a bit like an iceberg, with 90% of the work hidden from public view.

This LP appears to be recorded at a time where Zakirji was still teaching at the Ali Akbar Khan College of Music in San Rafael, CA. A little bit after this, outside musical commitments made Zakirji's tenure at AACM difficult and they parted ways amicably.

And to Nels, don't worry -- I think there's another blog which will be uploading many of your LP treasures in the near future.

Love the music! I don't know where to ask this question so I'll do it here... I'm trying to track down a CD of Rag Panocha Kosh performed by Ustad Zia Mohiuddin Dagar on the Rudra Veena. I've been told it's a fantastic performance and recording but I can't seem to find it anywhere... It was put out by Alvares I think back in the late 80s. Any hints you could give me would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much for the link! I was hoping to find the actual CD or uncompressed files. I downloaded the performance from youtube and know I like it but I hope I can find a higher quality...

The Panchamkosh (Panchamkauns) recording was released by Auvidis, not "Alvares". Seek and ye shall find. Maybe.

There ain't no such thing as "enough
Ali Akbar Khan"! Thanks a bunch
Tawfiq for another masterpiece.
By the way, "Soul of the Sarod" and
"Halfmoon" would be enormously
