in Dhamar Tal (14 Beats) &
Raga Adana - Composition "Shiva Shiva Shiva

Side 3:

man Vishvanatha" in Chautal (12 Beats) (11:05)

There is on the original LP on side 3 at just before min. 10 a gap of 3 seconds. All copies of this LP show the same fault. My friend LF from Scotland corrected this and cleaned the LPs. Here what he says: "I have prepared a cleaned up version, where the gap has been removed and it is very difficult to hear the join (unless you're listening hard for it). Also all the pops and crackles have been removed. The music is brilliant and the sound is very good."
Many thanks, LF. We offer here now his versions, as flac and mp3 files.

just ran across this article, linked from wikipedia 'tanpura,' nothing too obscure..

BUT it mentions the Dagar family quite often, with some very interesting anecdotes & observations of the author's many years of study & acquaintance

what about a raga named Bhairon? it would seem like something to do with Bhairav(i) or that family, but that's just a guess? i'm going thru all of my recordings from the dagar family, and found a dhrupad by the bros. sr., so this seemed like an opportunity to ask. thank you.

I'm not a Raga specialist at all and never was into finding out about scales etc. But if you put the name into Google there should come up quite a number of websites to tell you more. I just did it myself and the first link to come up is wikipedia which says that it is Bhairav (not Bhairavi which is different).

nice one! yeah, i was more interested in time of day, rather than the scales. i never thought of wikipedia -- it seemed like too obscure a question, haha. Bhairav makes sense, b/c I've several times seen reference to not just "Bhairon" but also a "Nat Bhairon." Probably "Nat Bhairav," so a few pieces of the puzzle seem to be clicking, although of course a true specialist might tell me that i'm still totally wrong... Relationship to Gunkali (mentioned by Wiki) is interesting, too...

As Rapidshare has as of 27th of november traffic restrictions it can happen that in the evening (European time) you can't download anymore. So you just have to wait till next morning. Success.

The only way around is to be a little patient and try at another moment again. Earlier today, when I checked the link it worked perfectly.
